Independence Day
Happy Independence Day! While our country is celebrating 237
years of independence from British rule, I will be celebrating a different sort
of independence. While I won’t be setting off any fireworks, for the first time
in many years I’ll be home alone for several days while my family is out of town.
I’m looking forward to the solitude. It will be fun to set my own schedule for
the day, accomplish projects where focused time is important, and take time to
reflect on my many blessings. By the way, it’s that last item that’s most
important. Quieting your mind and finding independence from the thoughts and
demands of everyday life allows you to appreciate things in a new way.
