Service

Most of my work as a consultant is about serving the needs of our clients. I regularly evaluate whether I am serving our clients to the best of my abilities and serving in a way that is meaningful to them. I evaluate, then I shift. I have a quick checklist in my brain that I reference to keep myself accountable:
  • Am I available when it is convenient?
  • Am I available in the way they need, for example on the phone, via email or face-to-face?
  • Can I flex my style to work effectively with them and their team?
  • Do I consistently provide a quality product?
  • Do I do what I say I will do?
  • Do I set appropriate boundaries so that the project can be viewed as successful?
  • Do I say no when needed?
These are simple things but when I put them in the context of service they seem really powerful.

How do you serve?
